One of the reasons why I worked so hard to elect President Barack Obama in 2008 was because President Obama made a firm commitment to reform the nations’ health care system. Now that national health care reform has passed, we must ensure that we build on these efforts to guarantee that all the residents of the 33rd district and New York State have access to high quality, affordable health care.
- I will work tirelessly to ensure that all those eligible for Medicaid under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act in my district are enrolled.
- I will resist ALL cuts to the nursing homes and hospitals in our community. Budgets must not be balanced on the backs of our neediest neighbors.
- The Bronx has some of the highest obesity and diabetes rates in the state. I support taxing Wall Street bonuses to ensure that the health disparities in communities of color are eliminated.
